Matt Levyssohn: Man with a Mission

Matt Levyssohn, Plant Work Project Manager and a proud family man, is shown here with his twin daughters, who are Martial Arts enthusiasts.

Matt Levyssohn joined SIGMA over five years ago. He is a man with a mission: “I was hired to help create an internal team of like-minded people to focus on the Plant Work sector. This sector requires a new way of working. I’m essentially a project manager for our Plant Work customers.”

Plant work contracts are very different from regular waterworks construction projects. The scale of the project tends to be sizeable, and there is typically a much longer window of time for construction, as Matt explains: “The average project typically runs for 12-18 months or longer. The customer requires a greater degree of hand-holding as there tends to be multiple rounds of changes and project iterations. The essential thing is to get our product to the jobsite exactly when it needs to be there. There is no margin for error because so much is riding on these project deadlines.”

Managing the timelines and staying close to the supply chain is key to success according to Matt: Deliveries need to.be consistent with a customer’s own timelines. “Full transparency is called for,” says Matt. “We need to be in constant communication with customers – so that they too can be honest with their own customers who are on the front line. Sometimes this means delivering bad news, but integrity is crucial.” Matt’s dedication to customer communication has attracted attention from some key players in the industry.

Andy Zech-McKenna works for inside sales on the Plant team at an independent waterworks distributor. The company has a wide reach throughout the southwest. Andy tends to focus on large Plant Work contracts in the Colorado region. “We are not one of your big box distributors; we pride ourselves on providing agile, personalized service to our customer base.”

Most recently Andy has been working on a number of new treatment plant builds, including a project to replace aging waterworks infrastructure on the outskirts of Denver. “Every job is different,” claims Andy. “There is usually an extensive menu of product and service needs. SIGMA is distinguished by its customer service. Matt is particularly knowledgeable; he works through issues, and always puts in 100% effort. On our most recent job together we spent months getting the order clarified. There was so much back and forth, and so many moving parts. Any change from our customer necessitates a change to the order for Matt. Attention to detail is an imperative. Matt has demonstrated his, and SIGMA’s integrity and initiative. He always delivers against his promise.”
