Southwest Region Supports Community

In addition to providing excellent products and services to our customers every day, SIGMA’s Houston-based Southwest Regional Office has made it a priority to support the community through several worthy organizations and events throughout the year. Read our blog to learn more: 

Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo (HLSR) 

Since its founding in 1932, HSLR has committed over $600million to the youth of Texas and education.  Each year, the group awards over 800 scholarships to students, and to date has provided over 20,000 scholarships to students pursuing higher education and vocational education in the state of Texas.  SIGMA supports this project through volunteerism, fundraising, and hosting events to increase awareness of HLSR’s work, which includes helping educate students about the opportunities in waterworks related fields.  Special shout out to Territory Sales Manager Jessica Covin, who serves as a leader on the Poultry Action Committee, and helps with day-to-day operations including the “Feed the Kids” annual event, and purchasing and distributing meat purchased from the HLSR Livestock Project. 

Texas Water Utilities Association (TWUA) 

TWUA is a water utility, member-centered organization that provides training programs, technical publications, and industry events for water utility professionals and other professionals in related fields. SIGMA supports TWUA at events that educate high school and college students about opportunities in the waterworks industry, and also provide training to enable operators to obtain license. 

Houston Contractors Association (HCA) and Auston Contractors & Engineers Association (ACEA) 

HCA represents the interests of the civil construction community in the greater Houston area and promotes strong infrastructure for the benefit of the community.   ACEA promotes the interests of local businesses, promotes public policy, and develops infrastructure solutions.  Both of these organizations offer scholarships to local students.  SIGMA supports both HCA and ACEA with golf tournaments, fishing tournaments, and on-campus educational events. 

Hold ‘em and Hit ‘em Club (HHC) 

HHC supports education and youth charities and, and SIGMA participates in their fundraising initiatives such as fishing tournaments, golf tournaments, barbecue cook-offs, etc. 

Periwinkle Foundation

SIGMA is partnering with a customer to support Fore!, the Houston Golf Tournament benefiting the Periwinkle Foundation.  

The Periwinkle Foundation provides a community for children with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses through emotionally-healing camps, arts, and survivor programs. The organization supports children and families from diagnosis through treatment to survivorship 

9/11 Remembrance Ride and BBQ Food Drive for first responders 

Branch Manager Jim Stohr and his friends team up with the local Nowhere Lounge in Porter Texas to BBQ and deliver meals to First Responders in the local area on 9/11 each year.
