Check Out This Webb-Site: SIGMA Remains Constant in Times of Change
By Joe Webb, National Sales Manager
It has been said that the only constant is change. The current climate certainly demonstrates this assertion. We at SIGMA are taking strategic steps to respond to the changing times. Our sales team is committed to the needs of each individual customer and we continue to prioritize our ability to respond in real time.
To meet the needs of all types of customers, SIGMA has proactively diversified our supply chain and fully stocked all of our warehouses with domestic and imported local inventory. This plan was tested recently when a massive water main break occurred in Skokie, IL, about an hour’s drive from our Midwest regional office in Sauk Village, IL.
I got a call at 6:00 on a Saturday morning from a customer with an emergency. Skokie, Illinois, a town outside of Chicago with a population of 65,000, had a massive water main break resulting in massive flooding. Many people were without fresh water, there was boiling order in place, and the town needed a 36” MJ fitting fast. Because the main that broke was a 36-inch line, an enormous amount of water flooding the area.
We checked our inventory, determined that we had what was needed in our warehouse and our rock star Assistant Branch Manager Kwame Williams sprung into action. He shoveled his car out and headed to the SIGMA warehouse where he shoveled again to make a path through the parking lot for his car, the forklift and the truck en route to pick up the material. He located the product needed to repair the water main. By 7:30 that morning, Kwame had loaded the forklift and had the order ready when the truck arrived. When you are in the waterworks industry, you are dealing with the most critical and elemental human need so we take our role in supplying municipalities and water systems very seriously. SIGMA has always done whatever is needed, gone above and beyond, especially in an emergency, to help our customers. And our strategic approach to keeping complete local inventories in all of our warehouses across North America means that we WILL have what you need when you need it.
When you call us at 6:00 on a snowy Saturday morning with an emergency, we are there for you. SIGMA was pleased to play a role in responding to the emergency and we will continue to position ourselves in a posture that enables us to deliver reliably, promptly, and courteously no matter what. Change may be inevitable, but SIGMA’s commitment to delivering quality and service will remain constant.
