SIGMA is proud to highlight the availability of V-BiO ® Enhanced Polyethylene Encasement Film, THE solution for pipe corrosion.  

The Problem:

The Solution: V-BIO®! 

• Volatile Corrosion Inhibitors (VCIs) inhibit the formation of corrosion cells on ductile iron surfaces. VCIs travel from the film to the anode and cathode, where they form a bond similar to a magnet, which prevents corrosion.

• Infusion of anti-microbials prevent Microbially influenced corrosion,

  All polyethylene encasement films are NOT the same! At SIGMA, we only recommend V-BIO®.  There is simply no other polyethylene film offering the same microbial protection, especially when paired with SIGMA Z-COAT, our Zinc-rich paint, which coats fittings and other components. V-BIO® is also applicable for use with Zinc-coated ductile iron pipe, standard tar-coated pipe and bare pipe. 

  
  V-BIO ® meets the spec required by engineers and many municipalities where volatile elements and soil conditions create a corrosion issue. It is typically used in major metropolitan areas and is an established product in the Midwest and Northeast. It also meets all requirements of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and the AWWA standard for polyethylene encasement (ANSI/AWWA C105/A21.5). 
  It is important to be certain that you install authentic V-BIO®. The two active ingredients (the VCI and biostat) are uniquely formulated to withstand the high heat involved in the manufacturing process.  In competitors’ product, the VCIs and biostats are dissipated during production, so the protection is weakened. Because V-BIO®’s formula withstands the heat generated in the manufacturing process, it maintains the integrity of the film and protects the pipe from corrosion and oxidation.
