The Future of Wedge Action Restraint: SLO
SIGMA is proud to announce the availability of the SIGMA ONE-LOK® SLO mechanical joint wedge action restraining gland, a truly innovative solution to pipe restraint. The SLO is unique in that it can be used with various types of pipes, contributing to efficiency and simplifying inventories, and streamlining warehouse shelf space. Features of this revolutionary product include:
Unique interlocking arrangement of the wedge and break-off bolt allows the restraining wedges to provide the gripping action of the pipe wall more securely as thrust force increases.
When the wedge segment is engaged by the actuating bolt, the primary contact edges of each wedge segment lock securely onto the pipe wall. This action causes the primary contact edges to grip the pipe and effectively restrain the assembly.
Suitable for use on ductile iron, PVC, steel, and HDPE.
Precision contoured wedges provide proper contact and support of the pipe wall. Each wedge is manufactured with a contour that evenly matches the outside circumference of each nominal diameter of the pipe. This contour also prevents damage to both the pipe wall and the interior cement mortar lining caused by point loading, even on the thinner pressure classes of the pipe.
Actuating bolt includes a visual torque indicator, and the breakaway top ensures proper engagement of wedge segment during installation.
Size range of 3-12”; deflection of 5°.
Patent pending.
SIGMA Engineer Satheesh Chandrasekaran comments, “The SLO truly represents the future of wedge action restraint. In addition to its innovative features and superior performance, the SLO streamlines warehouse operations and reduces costs because it eliminates the need to have independent restraints for different types of pipes.”
